Osage Orange Tree Drops Its Fruit

Along Parrott Ropewalk in Georgetown’s Montrose Park there is an old Osage Orange tree (maclura pomifera). Early this morning I stopped to spend a few minutes photographing its large yield of fruit.

At that time I was in my car, stuck in traffic on the Francis Scott Key Bridge, between Roslyn, Virginia and Georgetown in DC. The view is to the north, upriver, with Virginia on the left, DC on the right, and the Potomac below.
